For over 16 years, Matt McPherson has served in executive roles across North Carolina’s public and private sectors – including supervisory leadership within DSS – dedicating his career to the community where he was raised. He began his career as a municipal police officer, working as a detective, K-9 officer, and field training officer, during which he developed a deep commitment to helping others through crisis.
Transitioning into social services, Matt served as an investigative social worker and later expanded his focus to adult services, including APS, adult care home monitoring, placement, and representative payee services. His passion for supporting vulnerable populations led to leadership roles where he supervised multidisciplinary teams and developed training tools to improve onboarding and retention.
Matt later joined the CPS leadership team, supervising forensic social workers and modeling integrity and accountability through his “lead by example” approach. He then transitioned to the private sector as a licensed Private Investigator, where he reviewed law enforcement evidence and advocated for justice in complex legal cases.
Now at A4O, Matt brings a wealth of experience, a strong sense of service, and a passion for coaching and training. He holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Gardner-Webb University. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his wife, Jordan, and their six children.
