Jordan McPherson

For nearly two decades, Jordan McPherson has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to improving outcomes for the most vulnerable populations in North and South Carolina. With a career marked by progressively responsible leadership roles, Jordan has made transformative contributions to child welfare, particularly in North Carolina, where she spent the majority of her tenure.

Jordan launched her career in early 2008 as an Investigations Social Worker, where her unwavering dedication to protecting children and strengthening families set her apart. Over the next several years, she broadened her expertise by serving in CPS In-Home Services and After-Hours roles, gaining a well-rounded understanding of critical child welfare programs. Her success in these areas paved the way for a promotion to Quality Assurance and Training, where she mastered complex processes such as IV-E compliance, Daysheet billing, CFSR reviews, and the training and development of new social workers.

As her career advanced, Jordan took on leadership roles that showcased her ability to inspire teams and drive systemic change. She was promoted to supervise a team of Investigators, then transitioned to overseeing Quality Assurance Lead Workers and Trainers. In 2017, Jordan joined NC DHHS as a Program Monitor, where she partnered with counties to develop data-driven strategies that improved outcomes for children and families. Her role involved providing actionable feedback, practical case applications, and expert guidance to strengthen county-level practices.

Returning to county government, Jordan developed and led a Quality Assurance and Training Team, spearheading innovative initiatives such as an onboarding program, a case management program, and the integration of the Signs of Safety practice model. Her leadership extended to overseeing budgets, conducting case reviews, and managing funding eligibility processes. Under her stewardship, the agency recouped significant financial resources and avoided costly errors, further demonstrating her operational acumen.

Jordan’s exceptional leadership skills were further evident as she managed a team of Social Work Supervisors. In this role, she provided case-specific guidance on safety planning, oversaw intake screening decisions using structured decision-making tools, and mentored her team to achieve exceptional results. Her deep expertise in Signs of Safety informed her strategic approach, ensuring both child safety and family engagement.

In her transition to South Carolina Child Welfare, Jordan continued her impactful work, becoming certified to practice in the state, completing FAST/CANS assessments, and serving as a trusted expert in court cases. Her ability to adapt to new environments and deliver meaningful results underscores her passion for continuous growth and service excellence. Jordan joined A4O in 2024 as a Capacity-Building Consultant, focusing on Supervisors and Managers, and helping to build the Intensive Support Social Work Team as the ISSWT Manager.

Jordan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Social Sciences from Winthrop University. Her career is defined by her unwavering dedication to empowering teams, advancing child welfare systems, and making a lasting difference in the lives of children and families.
