Brittany Naylor has dedicated nearly 20 years to improving outcomes for children, families, and communities across North Carolina through direct service and progressive leadership in child welfare. Born and raised in eastern North Carolina, her career reflects a deep commitment to family-centered practice, operational excellence, and building the capacity of teams and systems that support lasting change.
Brittany began her professional journey in Alachua County, Florida, where she launched her career in child protective services following her undergraduate studies. After returning to North Carolina, she built a diverse and extensive career in child welfare, gaining hands-on experience across all major service areas — including investigations, in-home services, foster care, and after-hours services. This broad foundation gave her a comprehensive understanding of the systems, challenges, and opportunities that shape outcomes for children and families.
Over the course of her career, Brittany’s strong commitment to service and family-centered practice led her into supervisory and management roles, where she has spent the last 11 years guiding teams, supporting staff development, and driving positive outcomes. In these leadership roles, she has remained focused on building strong, collaborative environments where staff are equipped to do their best work and families receive the support they need to thrive.
Most recently, Brittany served as the Director of Lenoir County Department of Social Services for nearly two years — leading agency-wide operations, supporting organizational performance, and championing a culture of accountability, compassion, and continuous improvement.
Brittany earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina. She lives in eastern North Carolina with her husband, their three active children, and eight fur babies. Outside of her professional life, Brittany serves as a cheerleading coach for her daughter’s recreational squad and enjoys cheering on her two sons as they play football. As a family, they love camping, visiting the beach, and making lasting memories through quality time and shared adventures.
